The Life Actuarial Analyst assists Life Actuaries in reviewing and analyzing new policies, dividend scales and policy reserves based on generally accepted actuarial methods. Performs research to gather and compile statistical data and develop reports that will facilitate and support various Actuarial and other departments’ processes. Assists in drafting of policies, forms, and rate manuals and other changes to ensure compliance with insurance regulations and statutes and company goals. Requires the ability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without a reasonable accommodation.

Minimum starting salary: $51,799.00

Essential Duties
Analyzes statistical data and other pertinent information to help develop new products and to help develop reserves.
Responsible for data entry and output reporting using pricing and financial analysis software.
Uses Excel or Access or similar spreadsheet or data management programs to gather and compile statistical data to develop reports facilitating and supporting pricing, reinsurance reporting, and valuation function.
Researches various projects as requested by the Director, Corporate Actuary or Director, Product Actuary.
Monitors other companies’ applicable rate manuals and products for changes and communicates unusual or new situations to the Director.
Performs other related duties as requested by Director, Corporate Actuary or Director, Product Actuary.
Excellent skills in advanced mathematics, probability and statistics.
Good organization skills and knowledge of data processing for development and maintenance of information systems and procedures.
Good communication skills.
Ability to keep a steady work schedule with regular, predictable attendance to ensure steady work flow and minimal disruption to department schedules and deadlines.
Ability to accept supervision, follow instructions and work in a harmonious manner with co-workers and supervisors.
This is the skill set for an individual at mid point of position. Based upon banding of grades, the skills needed may vary.
Full course of study at college level, demonstrating superior performance with a degree in mathematics or actuarial science preferred.
Advanced levels require successful completion of Society of Actuaries exams.
Significant experience in Excel, Access, or other similar data management software.
Must become familiar with or be willing to learn data management and reporting facilities of pricing and financial analysis software.
Responsibilities/Principal Accountabilities
Accountable for applying knowledge of mathematics, probability, actuarial science, statistics and principles of finance and business to research and evaluate information and ensure a high level of validity and reliability in various departmental duties.
Accountable for assisting in accurate and timely developing and reporting of data for various external and internal reports.
